Research

My research focuses on digital entrepreneurship, healthcare IT design and creative problem solving. I adopt the micro- foundations perspective, i.e., how macro-level constructs (e.g., firm performance or capabilities) emerge from the actions and cognitions of individuals. For instance, in one project, I examine how entrepreneurs' abstraction of the digital product, business models, and markets affect their decisions to pivot. In another project on a similar theme, I look at how exaptation is shaped by users’ design fixation and ways to overcome them in the context of IKEA hacks. 

 

Additionally, while my work mainly involves qualitative methods, I also adopt simulation and other empirical methods to study these phenomena. The sample projects that fall under each of the three themes are summarized below:
